Sight + Sound

Post by Ted Myers »

Hello, I have the WhatsApp app on my laptop and unable to use the video link.
Sight + Sound work on it on other apps. There are no faults in Device Manager, yet I get this.
My other laptop works perfectly.

Have you compared the version number of the driver for your microphone on you other laptop with the version number of the driver on the machine that doesn't help? If they don't match, try to install the version that does work on the machine that doesn't.

If that doesn't help, I have no more ideas.

Hi Ken, I thought it might be installing Google Meet on my Laptop. I also have WhatsApp on my pc it did work, now its the same as Facebook Messenger, not working. Will check my installed Apps.

If you uninstall WhatsApp, WhatsApp will definitely not work...
Best wishes,

That might be it. I can imagine that once Google Meet is installed it will always be running (silently, in the background) ready to sprint to life as soon as you need it. In which case, the mic. will be always be 'in use' by Google Meet and that in turn means WhatsApp won't be able to access it.

If that theory is correct, then you will need to find out how to ensure you completely shutdown Google Meet and not just close it / leave it lurking in the background, before you open WhatsApp.

Ken, I have checked Task Manager, no sign of Google Meet or WhatsApp.
How do I check the driver versions?
