Gmail photos Label Photos not showing photos

OK, having a senior’s senior moment (or 2, or 3) I have a label 'photos'. When I opened it today, all it shows is the name of the photos, not the photos themselves. I thought I had previously seen the photos when I clicked on the label. Hallucinations???

A label in Gmail acts like an email folder: if you click on the label, you'll see the email messages labeled "Photos"
Or do you mean something else?

Thank you, Hans. I understand a Label is like a Folder. When I open the label, what I see is this:

I don't see any option to change view.

Those are not photos, but email messages that contain a photo as attachment, as far as I know. Google does not display those attachments in the message list (except as a paperclip icon)

I don't suppose there is any way to somehow have the attachments appear as photos and then save them, as photos, to a Label?

No, that is not the way Gmail works.
