Reveal Outlook 2010 password

Post by Peter Kinross »

I was on hols when I had to change my Outlook 2010 password. I wrote the new one on down in a MS Word doc on my laptop. 4 weeks later, back home that word doc has been corrupted and cannot be read.
I can open Outlook on my laptop, but the password is shown as asterisks. Is there any way of viewing the password? There are hundreds of Outlook password recovery docs on the web, but I have no way of knowing which ones are safe and which ones are malware.

Solved! No need to change within Outlook. Went to my host and changed the password there.

One needs to remember that the changing of a password needs to be done on the server that the password is hosted on.
Any password that has been "Remembered" within a program, will NOT change the password on the host account server.

In this case, forgotten password and the temp back up, on my laptop, while on hols being toast, a remembered did help. I could still access the emails on my laptop, but not on my work computer.
