Emailing myself an Outlook contact file

Post by jmt356 »

I am trying to email myself an Outlook contact, but each time I receive on my second computer, it arrives as a .vcf file that opens up in Windows Live Mail, which is not preserving the Notes section. I'm not sure what has changed, but I used to be able to open these files in Outlook and, after pressing ctrl + S, the contact would automatically be saved to my Outlook contacts. How can I get that old configuration back?
Regards,

JMT

What happens if you open the e-mail, then drag the attachment from the message to your Contacts folder?

When I drag it to Contacts, it opens up as an Outlook attachment. If I then press ctrl + S, it gets saved to Outlook contacts. However, the Notes section gets messed up. The hard breaks are missing and the information gets cut off after a couple of lines.

I copy (ctrl + C) the contact in Outlook, paste it into an email (ctrl + V) and then click send.

I'm afraid I'm stumped. When I do this, the attachment is a contact, not a .vcf file. I don't know of any setting that controls this. Sorry!
Best wishes,
Hans
