Hello from a long time lurker. Over the years I have learned a lot by reading but now have a question.
I am setting up a new laptop and would like to copy all my old e mails and contact information to it from a older system. Both systems are running Win7 64 bit and Outlook 2007. Am I correct in thinking that if I copy the Outlook.pst file from the older system to the newer system that this will have the effect of copying all the old e mails and contacts etc. to the new computer? If not, could someone please point me in the correct direction to get both Outlooks in sync?
Thanks in advance.

You are correct. All the emails and contacts are stored in your PST file. Just make sure that you copy the right PST file. Look at the Outlook data file properties to make sure.

Outlook stores all email items in a single PST file. As you have mentioned that both systems are running Win7 64 bit and Outlook 2007 than there is no issue. You can copy the Outlook.pst file from old system to new. But I would recommend you to take complete backup of PST file before switching in new system.

Thanks for the confirmation. Family situation prevented moving things until recently. Things worked great.

I hope your family situation is OK - if not, I wish you strength.
Best wishes,
