(FF version 39.0)
When I open Firefox, a New Tab tab automatically appears. How to delete this? I have set ‘When firefox starts’ to
show blank page.
Thank you

Re: New Tab Page
Have you set it like this in the General section of Tools > Options?

Re: New Tab Page
Just tried that. Closed FF, opened it and that New Tab tab still appears....

Re: New Tab Page
Weird. Try this:
- Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
- If you see a warning, click I'll be careful, I promise!
- Type browser.newtab.url in the search box.
- Double-click browser.newtab.url in the search results (it should be the only result).
- Change the value from about:newtab to about:blank
- Click OK, then close the about:config tab.
- Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.

Re: New Tab Page
Hans - followed instructions (browser.newtab.url;about:blank) and when I went into FF, New Tab still there...
Further info: when I first enter FF, the New Tab is there. When I then navigate, ie to Lounge, to Weather, it is gone. Make sense?
Thanks!

Re: New Tab Page
I'm stumped. Perhaps you could ask your question on the Firefox Support forum on the mozillaZine board - lots of Firefox experts there.

If you find a cause and/or solution, please post it here. I'm curious!
Thanks in advance.

Re: New Tab Page

Re: New Tab Page
That should work too. I proposed "Show a blank page" as an extra way to force a blank page. Both settings work fine for me, but not for mipendance...
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: New Tab Page
Yes, that shouldn't make any difference. I always UNcheck those options to always check what my default browsers is. I know what my default is.mipendance wrote:Bob - only difference is I checked FF default browser...

Re: New Tab Page
Ok - more weird stuff. Logged into FF and back to behavior of New Tab appearing even after going to other sites. No big deal, just takes up real estate...

Re: New Tab Page
In the upper right corner of the New Tab page, there is a Tools (gear) icon. Clicking on it lets you specify your preference:
The first two options will display thumbnails on the New Tab page, the third one should display a blank New Tab page - at least it does for me.
