Hello team,
I record a macro or macros and none of them worked the way I wanted. I kept getting the message about Personl.xlsb workbook each time I open a workbook.
I hid personal Macro workbook.
Now, I want to record a macro, it states:
Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay open for recording
I searched on line and I don't have those folders on my computer. how can I keep this workbook open?
Regards,
BittenApple

Re: Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay
Excel should automatically load Personal.xlsb each time you start it, whether it is hidden or not.
Personal.xlsb is stored in a folder that is hidden from you by default:
C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
To see this folder, you must show hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer / File Explorer:

Re: Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay
If you know you have no macros in this workbook, one of the quickest ways to resolve issues with it is to locate and delete the Personal.xlsb. Once it is deleted, problem solved. If you need to record macros to be run in various workbooks again just record a new macro and store it in the Personal Macro Workbook. Excel will create a new PMW in the correct location which should work find. For some very useful info about this workbook and some advice on locating and fixing issues, see this web page and follow advice on it.

Re: Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay
Hello Hans & Rudy,
My problem is resolved and Rudi thank you for sending the link; I am going to study it and I am sure, it benefits me.
I don't know if I should post it here or not. I am making charts for my department as many as 120. I built the template and plugged in the data from company's system into a sheet in excel workbook and functions on the new sheet pulled the data from the first data sheet and on the result, I inserted a chart. (lot of manual work and I have been working on it for about 8 days)
Throughout this project, once in a while I inserted Macros that each time, I ran into an issue, I wonder if there is an easier way to do these charts,
1-downloading the data from the company system
2-Pasting into a sheet
3-Having function to pull the data
4-Insert a chart

Without knowing the format of the data and the type of chart you're creating, it's hard to comment.

Re: Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay
Hello HansV,
If I can, I will put it together and be back here again.
On Macro Workbook, it seems to me that the workbook is not loading automatically each time when I start the workbook and macros are not working if personal workbook is not open. Each time, I have to open the workbook manually to be able to get the macro be working.
Any tips?

BittenApple

See here.
I am not 100% sure if it will work, but the steps are worth a try to reset the PMW.
