Copy and Keep format

Post by agibsonsw »

Hello. Excel 2007.
I'm trying to Copy, Paste Special, Paste Link, but it doesn't keep the original formatting of the area.
I then try Paste Special/ Formats, etc., but none seem to work reliably, or they lose the link.
Any idea how I can get round this? Thanks, Andy.

Paste Special > Paste Link followed by Paste Special > Formats should do the trick, but as an alternative, you could use the camera tool.
This is not available in the ribbon, but you can add it to the Quick Access Toolbar:
- Click the Office button.
- Click Excel Options.
- Select Customize in the pane on the left.
- Select "Commands not in the ribbon" from the "Choose commands from" dropdown.
- Scroll down until you see Camera, then add it to the list on the right.
- Click OK.

To use the camera:
- Select the range that you want top copy.
- Click the Camera tool in the Quick Access Toolbar.
- Click where you want to paste a "live" copy of the selected range.
Best wishes,
Hans
