I know that the wisdom of Office experts says unless you have an explicit need, for say monster spreadsheets, there is no benefit in using 64 bit Office. Unfortunately my IT people didn't get the memo.
Does anyone know of anything out there, ideally written by MS, that I could use to support my case for having the 64 bit version that's just been installed replaced with the more sensible 32 bit option?
Thanks,
Ken

See Choose between the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Office on the Microsoft site. The list of reasons to choose the 32-bit version is much larger than that for the 64-version.
In the section for Office 2013:
In the section for Office 2013:
We recommend the 32-bit version of Office for most users, because it’s more compatible with most other applications, especially 3rd-party add-ins.

Thank you both.
I'm on leave all next week but I've passed these resources on to a colleague. I hope they help but I'm not holding my breath.

I am pleased to report that while I was on leave last week note was taken of the arguments for 32bit over 64bit and I now have the 32bit version of Office 365 (aka 2016).

In theory yes, I've already got most of the tweaks I had in Office 2010 back in place. However, you know from my other thread that headaches will be the order of the day given the crazy color themes.HansV wrote:Congratulations, that should save you a lot of headaches.

If you use the white theme and wear sunglasses, it can help.

Thanks for the tip. I'll also try turning down the brightness of the screen.Rudi wrote:If you use the white theme and wear sunglasses, it can help.
My first choice was White but there's to much white, especially in Word when the page is not full of text. I'm currently using the Dark Grey option but it is horrible in a different way. Colorful is too harsh and Black is like death.

The reason why I like colourful best is because the ribbons and the application background has a light grey shade which tones down the interface.
