Tray icons
I have the following icons permanently pegged to the right side of my taskbar: volume, wireless, battery, notifications, and Skype. I then click the arrow to the left of them and 18 more hiddenicons appears. How can I peg one of the hidden ones to always remain visible?
Regards,
JMT

Re: Tray icons
Clcik the arrow, and select Customize from the popup dialog.
Click the dropdown arrow next to the item that you want to display, and select "Show icon and notifications" from the dropdown list.

Re: Tray icons
Thank you. Do we call this "pegging an icon to the tray"? Is that bunch of icons on the right located in the "tray"?

Re: Tray icons
The official name for the right-hand part of the Windows taskbar is "notification area".

Re: Tray icons
Many people refer to it that way, yes. Microsoft doesn't like the term though (I don't know why).

"System Tray" is a very XP term, surely...

A much-improved feature though ; we are not bombarded by balloons - 'Inactive icons..' etc.. - and we can control theJohn Gray wrote:"System Tray" is a very XP term, surely...
notifications. With XP I needed a registry tweak to disable the balloons.
System Tray seems better than Notification Area though, as it is not just for notifications.
