I just ran a Check Disk on a Windows 7 computer. The only potentially problematic item it displayed was “Cleaning up xx unused index entries from index.” What does this mean?
According to a Windows forum post I read, it could be fixed by installing a Service Pack. Is this really necessary? Is the message anything to be concerned with?

I'd say there is nothing to worry about. It's just checkdisk doing its job, it doesn't point to a serious defect.
Best wishes,

Having recently done more CHKDSKs than you can shake a stick at, I can report that this happens every time, and so the message is of no import.
