Ah well, Geoff, here's another little bit of useful information that I picked up Chez Phillips in Fontenay aux Roses in July 1978: "mais non monsieur, c'est moi qui vous remercie".
Meanwhile I am both humbled and ecstatic.

I have stumbled over another mistake in forums; it probably won't be the last.

I am happy to report here that within 24 hours from 16:00 on 26 January, I had managed to install ProBoards software and set up a few boards.
I recommend ProBoards for low-key BBS systems that need little maintence.
