I am running Windows 11. Only 2 icons show up on my desktop, though I have about 10 files saved there. I can see the files in File Explorer if I navigate to my desktop folder, but I do not see them on my desktop.
In my Desktop Icons settings, I have Recycle Bin and User's Files ticked, but only 2 files show up.
How do I make them all show up?

Re: Only 2 icons display on desktop
"User's Files" means that a link to the folder C:\Users\<username> is placed on the desktop, not individual files.
Best wishes,

Re: Only 2 icons display on desktop
How can I get all the icons in my Desktop folder to show up on my Desktop, rather than just having 2 icons show up?
A user had had the same issue which was posted at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 154b757179.
I tried that solution by going to RegEdit and entering the address HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics.
The following showed up:
IconSpacing -8627
IconVerticalSpacing -8627
I changed it to -1130 but the problem still shows up. I just get 2 icons, widely spaced apart.

In File Explorer, go to C:\Users\<username>\Desktop (where <username> is your Windows username).
What do you see there?

Re: Only 2 icons display on desktop
What happens if you set those two registry items to values even closer to 0, for example to -200 ?

Re: Only 2 icons display on desktop
Whether they are set to the original -8627 setting or -1130 or -200, only 2 icons show up at a time. Pressing f5 changes which icons are displayed, but I cannot get all of them to display at once.
There is an entry in the Registry Editor called MinAnimateMigration. It is set to 0. What is MinAnimateMigration and is it causing this issue? I have another laptop running Windows 10 and it does not have this entry. I tried changing the value to 60 and -60 but it did not fix the desktop icon problem.

Re: Only 2 icons display on desktop
MinAnimateMigration returns 0 (zero, nada, zilch) search results in Google...
