Office 365 is (currently) Office 2013, only as a subscription instead of a one-time purchase. It supports macros exactly the same way as earlier versions of Office.

Microsoft has also created an online version of Office that runs in the browser. If you open an Excel workbook or a Word document in Microsoft OneDrive, in your browser, it will open in the online version of Office. This version does not support macros. But there is an option to open that workbook or document in Office 365, and then macros can run.
Best wishes,
Hans

The reason why I was asking is this last couple days I had a new client with Office 365 and a previous client who just reformatted his computer getting this message “Excel found unreadable content in ****.xlsm. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook”. No matter if they say yes or no to repair/remove contents, it still will not open properly.

As far as I know, if you open a workbook in Microsoft OneDrive, it will initially open in Excel Online, but you'll get a warning if the workbook contains macros. You then have the option to open the workbook in Excel 2013 or to download it to a local disk.

Hans

Yes, that error message indicates that the workbook has become corrupted.

I was reading somewhere that it mentioned a fix this type of error message for this was to install the Visual Basic component, but I'm not sure how or if its the right solution. That's why I come here

I don't know how that works in Office 365. I have the stand-alone version of Office 2013.

I’ll try a couple more things such as, verify that all updates for Office and Windows and I’ll check to see if they may have two versions of Office which may cause some conflict. :hairout:

UPDATE; As to the two that were having a problem; one it seems was using a rebuilt computer with a pirated Windows 7 and would not update. He now has a new computer and every things works great. The second individual it seems that out of the blue everything started working :clapping: (miracles do happen  ) not sure what caused the error in the first place.
