Win 7 & I.E 10 Window To The Forefront

Often times if I have another application open, even Windows Explorer, and click on a shortcut that is supposed to open a WEB site like Google or Eileen's it will appear as though the site did not open. After I click on the shortcut again and still do not see the WEB page I remember that often times my I.E. 10 browser does not jump to the front of my desktop but actually is hidden behind the other open application's window. I have looked through all of I.E.'s advanced settings and looked around the other tabs of the Internet Options and don't see a setting to make I.E. come to the front when opened. Is there such a setting somewhere that I may be missing?

I'm not sure the following will help, but it's worth a try. If it doesn't work, it won't harm either.

- Click the Start button in Windows
- Type regedit.exe, then press Enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
- Double-click the ForegroundLockTimeout entry.
- Change its value to 0, then click OK.
- Close RegEdit.
- Restart your computer.
- Check whether the problem still occurs.

Thanks Hans I will definitely try that. I won't know immediately if it works but I'll keep an eye on it.

Hans I don't want to mess things up so I have to post this first. I have edited the registry entries before and every time I have made a change to the value it was in something I understood like taking the value from 400 to 0. This entry's value is shown as 30d40 so I'm not sure if I have the correct value to change. Do I?

That is a hexadecimal value; it corresponds to the decimal value 200000. The unit is milliseconds, so the value stands for 200 seconds. This is the default setting for ForegroundLockTimeout. You can change this to 0 (which is 0 in decimal and in hexadecimal notation).
