Re: BIOS Update
I'm having trouble finding out if I am running the most recent BIOS update on my HP Mini Desktop system.
I've been run around the block about 6 times trying to follow HP instructions to do this. I haven't succeeded.
I was able to determine that my BIOS (UEFI) was produced by AMI and that it is version F.28.
Searching, at least they way I do it, hasn't turned up anything one way or the other.
Can anyone tell me how to find out if there is an update without having to jump through the interminable and obscure hoops HP presents?

Re: BIOS Update
Run msinfo32. Look in the right side of the System summary. The BIOS version is there.

Re: BIOS Update
Thanks, Joe.
Here's what I found: Does that mean my BIOS version is 3.3?
How do I learn if that is the most recent version?

Re: BIOS Update
Your BIOS version is AMI F.28 installed 2/20/2023. Visit the HP support site for your model. There should be information there on the most current version. They may also have HP software available to detect and update HP supplied drivers.

Re: BIOS Update
Thanks, Joe.
I have tried to use the HP channels without success. I DID find an updated dated 06/20/2023 but have failed in every attempt to download it.
I've apparently become too stupid to use an HP system.

Re: BIOS Update
Think you might be being a bit harsh on yourself there Bob. A quick search has found this page about using the HP Support Assistant to do a BIOS update:
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/i ... 1497668-16
That utility seems to be the equivalent of Lenovo's Vantage software so I suggest you use it and it will do it all for you. The box across the top of the page gives you a link to the HP Support Assistant if it's not already on your machine.
Once you have HP Support Assistant installed, you'll be able follow the instructions on this page to check for and install updates.

Re: BIOS Update
Thank you for the vote of confidence, Ken. I fear, however, that I am, indeed, not smart enough to us HP's support.
I have been through the web page you suggested numerous times. In asking for information identifying my system, one of their options is to 'let HP discover' it. Clicking that option and the authorization prompt that follows delivers a web page with an indicator that something is happening while I wait; however a 5 minute wait failed to return a response from the HP servers. I abandoned that effort and sought the serial number and other information they ask for and finally arrived at a page where I could find that there are indeed BIOS updates that are as recent as September. The problem is that there are 3 of them. Each provides information that should allow the user (me) to pick one; but I cannot suss out which one is appropriate. My system's label doesn't have the ROM version information, the display provided by running misinfo32 doesn't have it, nor does Settings > System > About.
Thus, my conclusion that I'm not intelligent enough to use HP's AI assistance.

Re: BIOS Update
In which case, sorry, but as I don't have a HP machine, I've no idea what to suggest next.

Re: BIOS Update
In your pic of the msinfo32 output it says your baseboard product is 885F. There is one BIOS update listed for that product.
BTW, did you install the latest version of the HP support assistant?

Re: BIOS Update
Thanks, Joe.
I didn't associate 'baseboard product' with ROM family and didn't recognize the appearance of 885F in the msinfo32 data.
I'll have to check to see if my HP Support Assistant is current. It didn't prompt me for an update when I loaded it.

Re: BIOS Update
That's what I thought, too; but it didn't work that way.
Like I've said, I'm probably too dumb to use HPs support pages (despite having an IQ North of 135)
