Concern About Windows 11 ver. 24H2 Update

Post by hlewton »

Has anyone been using version 24H2 of Windows 11? If so, have you had any problems with it? Is it compatible with the hardware that worked with version 23H2? I remember one update sometime ago was not compatible with some printers. Since I have difficulty correcting PC problems, I am trying to be cautious. Thanks

I have been using 24H2 on both my desktop and laptop since early October; I haven't experienced any problems.
One thing I noticed is that WordPad has gone, but I never used that anyway, so it doesn't bother me.
Best wishes,
Hans

I've been using it since May. I've not encountered any issues in my daily use. There is no reason to rush into installing it. You can track the issues that Microsoft has acknowledged at Windows 11 24H2 release status. I recommend just waiting until it is offered.

Thank you. I don't use WordPad either. I do occasionally use NotePad. Is that still there?

Thank you. Can you remember how long the update took to load? I just read that it can take as long as 2 hours or more. I don't have super computers but they are not the bottom of the line either. I hope it doesn't take that long especially if there are choices you have to make along the line when it is installing.

Downloading and preliminary installing may take a while, but during that time, you can keep on using the computer normally.
To finish the installation, you have to restart. That took about 10 minutes on my PC.
Best wishes,
Hans

As you can see, I've been using it for almost a month. Nary a problem that I can lay to the upgrade.

Must not be on Microsoft's list yet because I just got the normal updates this month with no offer for ver. 24H2.

24H2 still not offered ... is this commonplace still amongst members?

Same here, by my choice and not Microsoft's. I installed Steve Gibson's InControl, which will prevent 24H2 from installing itself until I consent. I follow the recommendations on AskWoody.com.

Somewhat surprised to read this but I downloaded InControl and it seems so easy it's amazing. Thank you for the link.
