If you are a real glutton for punishment you can download the new Windows 8 developer preview. See Windows Dev Center.
NOTE: this release is NOT feature complete. It should NOT be depended on for production work.

Re: Windows 8 developer preview
Thanks!
For others reading this: please note that this Windows 8 preview is a very early test version. It is intended for software developers who want to prepare themselves for creating or modifying software to work on the next version of Windows. It is *not* intended for end users. The official release is still quite some time away.

I understand that it will be more "touchy-feely", smartphone/pad friendly.. and more JavaScript aware..? But the final product is some way off.

Re: Windows 8 developer preview
What we've seen is mostly the new "Metro" interface intended for touch screens, much like the interface used by many smartphones. See Windows 8: pictures, video, and a hands-on preview of the developer build. The familiar Windows desktop with the taskbar and Start button will be an "app" available from the start screen.
