Linked table issues

Post by bknight »

I have a Db that is linked to a spreadsheet that appears to have issues. Before anyone asks for the files, Book2.xls is 18361 KB and the zip file is 1479 KB, which I believe is greater than allowed to be attached, the Db is 4512 KB. The Db is not displaying a specific symbol in Jan information. I have formatted the symbol ARR it has data in Jan, but isn't displaying in one of the forms in the Db.
Another question is how do I tell Access where the file is located? It has found it because it doesn't have any errors and it outputs data from the file.

For the file you have to post it on a data sharing site, like FileTransfert, then post the link.

About your second question:
Activate the 'Database Tools' tab of the ribbon.
In the 'Database Tools' group, click 'Linked Table Manager'.
Best wishes,
Hans

It is pointing toward a folder in documents Stock Info, but that folder does not exist in the "new" directories, the file does exist in StockInfo. Can those locations be edited or just new ones added?

Just looked at the links and I am unable to edit the locations. Next question how are new locations added? All I see is a select all/deselect all choices.

Select the link (check its check box), or click 'Select All'.
Also check the check box at the bottom of the dialog 'Always prompt for new location'.
Click OK.
Browse for the workbook, select it and click Open.
Best wishes,
Hans

OK, in between the posts I created a folder Stock Info and copied everything from stockinfo to stock info.

Once the workbook was moved into Stock Info, the issues that prompted the thread disappeared, thanks for the tips.
