Call me a cynic, but why would I want (or trust) such software? If I forget a password I usually click a link that says 'I have forgotten my password' and I can get a new one.

Some people do not use these "Hints" and one needs to find their password when setting up email accounts on a new clean machine. It will also work on any account on the internet that shows the asterisks.

I have used this program for years and have saved many a hours work.

It does NOT work on a Windows User account, as one MUST be logged in to Windows for the program to run.

It doesn't say at the site, but if I go to someplace where I need to sign in and enter my user ID but there ARE NO asterisks in the password box, will it reveal the password to me so I don't have to look offline?

I went to each page and did not see AVG Free. I use this at home on all my pcs. This catches any and all viruses that I have gotten.

As far as I know, the password MUST be entered and "Remembered" by either the program or browser.
I have never seen a "remembered" password without asterisks.

In post 43938 @ http://www.easy-video-converter.com/. the "iWisoft Free Video Converter" freebie was suggested and it is dead easy to use... editing out unwanted dialogue etc. from downloaded videos like those available on You Tube. Having downloaded a video in three parts from "Levitt tv.com" which had up to six minutes (recapping) of the previous segment, at the beginning of parts 2 & 3 I was able to edit it out then merge the three together using ConverXtoDVD to make one continuous whole. Well worth grabbing. Cheers Dave

Well it's an add-on rather than an application (but it is Free!) - I find the FireFox add-on Table2Clipboard extremely useful for copy tables to Word, etc.. Without it. copying a table can be very messy :hairout:

How did I ever manage without it! Regards.

Well, if add-ons are freeware, then PowerPivot certainly fits the mould.... If you want to supercharge Excels Pivot Table feature, and you happen to not have heard about this features...try it out here: Excel PowerPivot Download

Here is a simple, but powerful search feature that IMHO is unrivaled!! As simple as the interface is, I have not come across a more powerful and fast search feature. How it works is that it indexes your entire drive (incl. plug 'n play drives and USB's) into a tiny DB. And when you search for any file name or phrase, it searches the index to provide instant finds on your search terms. Where other search tools have failed...this one has never yet!

The search tool is called: EVERYTHING. Download it here: Everything-1.2.1.371.exe (334 KB)

PS: It is 100% portable. No installation and does not affect the registry.
Regards,
Rudi

Hi Rudi.
Sure I will commit to maintaining it.
I'll do an update every leap year, whether it needs it or not.

I do plan to do a better job in a few days time. I write data-mining software, so a better list would include the text describing the link.
My first pass was to grab enough so that i had a good chance of seeing if, say, TempsetTeaCup was mentioned anywhere in the 4(?) pages of posts. A real quickie.
A lost with more information and less data would be a real asset.

Have you been on your utilities or any other web page, have an open document in nearly all formats, that you want to have as a PDF file, then this is the tool for you. It takes seconds to complete.

I recently discovered a wonderful mind mapping tool written in Java, called FreeMind, which is a free download and a great tool for brainstorming and planning.

On similar lines I recommend a variation on this idea, a concept mapping tool called CMAPS:

I wonder if anyone has a free application that would compile the excel workbook as an exe file.

Thanks in advance.

To what purpose? Worksheets aren't applications, they're a particular type of document, so you need a spreadsheet app to use them. You can download OpenOffice for free and it handles Excel files if you don't have Excel on the machine.

I guess you did not understand what I meant.
http://xcellcompiler.com/index.php?opti ... Itemid=117

Here is an application that does what I meant, but since its not free I thought I would try in this thread for a free one if available.

Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Adam
