Thunderbird upgrades

Post by PaulB »

This morning when I checked, Thunderbird was at version 91.12.0 and offered an upgrade to 91.13.0. I installed the upgrade and checked again to ensure the upgrade was applied. I was surprised to see it was now offering an upgrade to version 102.2.0.

That is quite a jump.

My question: has anyone installed 102.2.0 and if so, were there any issues?
Regards,
Paul

The main version number of Thunderbird remains the same for about a year, then makes a big jump, presumably to stay in sync with Firefox. The latter gets a new main version every 4 weeks or so.

Thanks, Hans. I got into a lot of problems going from 78.x to 91.x so I'm a little gun-shy to attempt the upgrade. I will take a backup tonight and try to upgrade tomorrow. If anyone has tried the upgrade, I'd appreciate your feedback.

Paul

Paul, I followed your lead and too was surprised;-

My surprise arose from NOT being taken immediately to the latest version (102.2.0), but by being involved in a two-step process.

When I chose the equivalent of "update to latest version", I expected to be taken directly to the most up-to-date stable release.
FWIW I am now using 102.2.0

Cheers, Chris

Like both you and Chris, I was offered the update in a two step process (to 91.13.0 and then to 102.2.0). Both installed without issues.

I've done the upgrade but my preferred theme does not appear even though it is enabled.

Happy to report that I installed 102.2.0 with no issues. Apart for some optional cosmetic tweaks, TB is operating without problems right out-of-the-box.

Thank you all for your input.

Paul
