Gmail Contacts/Phone Numbers

Post by Ted Myers »

Hello, I normally save my phone numbers with a space after the first five numbers, then add the other six for landline & mobile. I always thought they should be used without a space. I now know they work with or without a space. Is there any info on how they should be used, and does it make any difference?
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

In my experience spaces, hyphens and parentheses in phone numbers are usually ignored, so it shouldn't matter.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hi Hans, just tried to manually input a phone number on my mobile (non smart) to input my smartphone number with a space but it refused to let me. So my non smartphone numbers are spaceless, all numbers on my smartphone have spaces.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

So your smartphone is smarter than your non-smartphone.

Yes and no, I can pick a date & time for a reminder to give an audible ring with what the reminder was set for on my non smartphone. Or I haven't found how to on smartphone.

Your smartphone should have a Calendar application. This lets you set reminders.

Smartphone syncs with my Google account, so I use the calendar to set my dated timer reminders. Sadly it only beeps once, so is easily missed.

On my Android, in the Google Calendar, you can change the notification tone in Settings/General/Notifications. And you can enable a pop up screen notification in case you miss the audio one.

Regards

Hello Graeme, thanks for your info, I have tried it but it only rings or beeps once. If I need to add a date for a future event, I set it in the Calendar for the day before, then set the Alarm function to get reminded. The Alarm can only be set for 23 hours 59 minutes in advance.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.
