"Discover" diskette labels

Post by ChrisGreaves »

Years ago (around 1988) there was a little program called, I think "discover". You fed it a 5.25" floppy diskette and it spat out a 5.25" square printed catalogue listing all the files on the diskette.
I need a similar program, but for CD/DVD sleeves.

I don't want to print ON the CDs, just a square sleeve to fit inside the paper CD envelope.

I can write my own in MSWord.VBA, I have no doubt, but thought to check here first.
Thanks
Chris

A search for
    cd indexing software
might find something.

Thanks Dave. I installed and ran, choosing an "envelope" as the print-to-pdf target. This came close to what I want.
An envelope-size output I can trim (from the 8.5x11 that my print shop uses) and fold ion half about a vertical axis,.
That will probably do.
I have a 1.5 shoe boxes of CD/DVDs that need something visible that tells me what they hold.
Cheers

I have a 1.5 shoe boxes...
Is that your shoe size, or are you saying that you have only one and a half feet?

I hate to be a pedant [!] but you can only have an integral number of shoe boxes.
What you have is TWO shoe boxes, but only one is completely full and the other ½ full. (The CD/DVDs may be more evenly distributed, of course.)
I think it is important on a technical website to be accurate about such matters.
You're welcome! :flee:

Hi John. I can understand your hate of pedantry and why you must hate yourself.
I used to have two shoeboxes, with lids, of CD/DVDs of computer-related materials, but the years and travel have taken their toll on me and my two shoeboxes.
One shoebox has lost its integrity and started to fall, as we say, apart at the seams. As has my body.
Various bits of adhesive tape have been used to prop its aging structure up, but the time is drawing near when the cardboard must be found a second use for, probably to separate layers of grass in a compost bin, and so I thought to dress up the CD/DVD sleeves with new printed labels which, since I don't own or run a printer nowadays, will provide an excuse to walk down the hill and chat up the imperturbable Peggy and the charismatic Kim or, if I get lucky, both.

I hope that this improves your understanding of "integrity"
Cheers
Chris
