Get Day-of-Week from Date

Post by BobH »

Can someone please help and old man with a tired brain?

I'm trying to get Excel to show the day-of-the week in a column B cell based on the value in the cell in column D of the same row. I first want to be certain that column D cell is not blank. I have managed to squirrel up the syntax until my brain is flummoxed. Please show me the error of my ways, other than the typo where you see a "K" in the formula).

BobH,

Try =TEXT(D2,"ddd")

It appears you're missing the comma.

Thanks, John!
It's been a very long time since I used Excel much at all. Seems I've become very rusty with syntax.

If you just want to display the day of the week then you can make the values in column B equal to column D and format them as dddd
You could even surprress the display when column D is blank by specifying a format of dddd;;
