Remove File Download numbers

Post by vilas desai »

Hello Experts,

Good morning.
Every time I download a same file it comes with the latest number of downloads .Ex: abc.xls is the name of the original file. abc(3).xls (3) How would I prevent these download numbers without a macro?

Thanks and best regards

Normally, when you download a file and there is already a file with the same name, Windows will ask whether you want to overwrite the existing file or not. Apparently, the web app suppresses this prompt. So it's not an Excel problem, but a problem with the web app.

I'll move this thread to the Other Applications forum.
Best wishes,
Hans

No Hans. A file with that name does not exist. It was deleted before the same file was downloaded again.

I see this happening when the file has previously been downloaded, I think it may be caused by versions remaining in the browser cache. Running ccleaner seems to reset it back to the behaviour I want.

I guess you may be right Stuart. Let me please try cleaning the cache. Thanks.
