Excellent Image

Post by Skitterbug »

Spotted Stuck's (Ken's) work on CIC website and thought I'd "point to it" from here. In my opinion, it is well done! Good luck Stuck and you have my vote!

And I'm curious how you accomplished it. I have the glass ball but I've never done much with it.

And yes, I do hope your talent is recognized in CIC! We won't know until early May though.

Umm, I pointed the camera and squeezed the shutter

It was an art installation in a pond situated in the middle of a large lawn that was surrounded by mature trees in the grounds of a stately home. Judging by the grime along the water line, the glass ball had been in the pond for a while. I don't think the glass ball was free floating though, otherwise prevailing winds would have almost certainly made it drift up against one side of the pond. The glass is obviously not plain glass but made such that the surface looks iridescent. It was a bright clear day so the surface of the ball reflected the surroundings.

I didn't have to do much post processing to get from the actual shot to this version, just cropping and a bit of contrast and careful sharpening.

Hi Skitterbug.

At the risk of appearing pedantic, when you look through a camera you see the past!

And the past is very worrying, isn't it.
This is the origin of the phrase "past tense"...
