api-ms-win-crt error

Post by ChrisGreaves »

I am trying to run a DVD burner called "DVD Styler".
It tells me that (loosely) "api-ms-win-crt is corrupted. Please re-install".
I re-install the DVD Styler, two different versions (and of course RevoUninstaller, re-boot) but get the same error.

I found a web page Windows Techies and have d/l the package, but before I run this package, has anyone here got a simple explanation or fix as to why this error might appear?
I have been using DVD-Styler for about two years under Win7HP.
Thanks
Chris

I'd be wary of non-Microsoft tools to repair DLLs. The DLL is part of one of the Microsoft Visual C++ nnnn Distributable packages (nnnn is a year such as 2015). You can try to repair the package(s) present on your PC from Control Panel.

See The program can’t start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing
Best wishes,
Hans

Correction: The application is FileSearchy.
