How to resolve a Security Warning

Post by Pilgrim »

I just created a new e-mail account in Outlook 2007 and now when the mail is checked each time for this account I get a Security Warning re: certificate. I've attached a screenshot of the actual warning with the hopes that someone can tell me if there is something I can do to stop this warning from being displayed every 10 minutes when Outlook checks for new mail. I suspect, or at least hope, that something in the configuration options of this account needs to be changed??

The problem is probably on your ISP's side; chances are they'll repair it soon.
In the meantime you could try one of these:

- Start Outlook
- Select Tools | Account Settings...
- Select the problem account, then click Change...
- Click More Settings...
- Activate the Advanced tab.
- If the check box "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" is ticked, clear it.
- Click OK, then Next, Finish, and finally Close.

or

- Start Internet Explorer.
- Select Tools | Internet Options...
- Activate the Advanced tab.
- Clear the check box "Check for server certificate revocation".
- Click OK.
Best wishes,
Hans

Tried the first one and it seems to have worked. I also tried sending and receiving e-mail to/from that address and they were both successful. Funny, the destructions from the Host Provider insisted that "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" be checked.

Thanks... I'll save this information just in case something changes and I can then try the second suggestion.

I'd try ticking the "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" check box again in a few days, to see if the host provider has renewed their certificate.
Best wishes,
Hans
