Pop up message when opening a folder

Hi all

I have several folders that when opened I would like to add some sort of pop up instructions before people thrash about open documents etc. is this at all possible? if so can somebody point me toward an article that might help because my Google skills have drawn a blank

I will move this to the Windows General forum because it is about Windows folders, not about Office.

I don't think that is possible, but let's see if someone else comes up with a suggestion.

Check out XYplorer. It says it is scriptable. So, you may be able to get it to do what you want. It is not free though.

If you're giving people a shortcut to the folders, it might be possible to write a script to pop up a message box then open the folder when they acknowledge the message box. They would run the script when they click the shortcut.

I would usually use Autoit for stuff like this, but other scripting agents are available...

How about using desktop.ini to:
a. Set up an informative folder ICON
b. Put your message or a pointer to your message in an INFOTIP.
