Win 8 and Truecrypt drives

Post by BenCasey »

Hello,
I have seen many people's postings across the net re using TrueCrypt with Win8 and although it is not officially supported, the word appears to be that it is ok for simple, basic, straightforward installation (ie, not perhaps for multi-boots and different OS's).

So, I am using it and it appears to work just fine. With the exception of one little glitch that I was hoping you might be able to help me with.

Scenario:
Two user accounts.
Both users get access to one of the encrypted volumes.
One use only gets to see one of the encrypted volumes.
However, this user can see the hard drive (but not any mounted volume with data associated with it)

but, if they click on they get the message "You need to format the disk before you can use it"

Obviously, it would be disastrous if they were to do this.

So, is there any way to "hide" this drive or somehow prevent them from clicking "Format Disk"?

I have my fingers crossed that somebody will know a solution.
Thank you
Regards, Ben
