Windows 8 App updates - undo?

If an app is updated is there anyway to roll-back an update once it has been installed or is the only way to do it to take an image of the whole hard drive and use that? Thanks.

Does a system restore apply to apps too? (System Restore - Undo in Windows 8)

I don't know but I strongly doubt it. I found an article that refers to a program that is supposed to do the job but the link leads to what looks like an Italian page - also investigating closer this appears just to backup the user data not the whole app.
