Win 11 first encounter

Post by stuck »

My new Win 11 Pro laptop arrived this morning. It's a Lenovo LOQ model. Not because I do 'gaming' but because it was the most cost effective way of getting a machine with a dedicated (Nvidia) graphics card and a 100% sRGB display, which are important to me for photo editing.

So far the only serious bit of customisation I have applied is to install 'ExplorerPatcher':

in order to bring back the Quick Launch toolbar:

For me this is an essential Windows feature but I think I'm the only person left that still uses it.

I used the Quick Launch Bar in Windows 7, but in Windows 10 and 11 I use the 'Pin to taskbar' feature instead.
Best wishes,
Hans

I prefer the separation of icons the Quick Launch toolbar gives,i.e. icons of applications that are running appear at the left hand end of the Taskbar while icons for frequently used applications appear at the right hand end.

I suggest you carefully test after each month's cumulative update to Windows 11. There has been more than one time that an update has broken third-party start menu programs.

Yes, that task is already on my 'to do' list.

I use Launchbar Commander, mainly because my Directory Opus toolbar keeps dying on me.

Check out Start11 from Stardock. No free but not expensive either.
