Changed settings
Hello, I have tried and failed to permantly disable the 'Shadow' under the icons on the desktop using a few methods found by Google. Everytime I start my pc they reappear.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Re: Changed settings
I have found over the years that I need to log off and log on again after clearing the tick from in front of the box saying "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop"...
You might try clicking the radio button further up, in front of "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" rather than "Custom" (and probably log off and on again!).

Re: Changed settings
I don't know which methods you have tried.
Click the Start button or press the Windows key.
Start typing advanced system settings
Click on 'View advanced system settings' when it appears in the search results.
Click on 'Settings...' in the Performance section.
Clear the check box 'Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop'.
Click OK, then click OK again.

Re: Changed settings
Hello John & Hans, the methods you described were the last one I tried, I found it on Windows Seven Forum Tutorial section.
I normally look there for general fixes as their Windows Ten Forum is very poor.
I got 2 notifications for this before returning to it @ 1114hrs & 1121hrs.
