I would like to rid my laptop of Cortana forever. I have googled around to no avail. I have modified the registry too per How To Geek instructions without any luck. It keeps coming back. Any ideas?

Re: Cortana disable permanently
Did you create DWORD values named AllowCortana with value 0 in both
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search
Best wishes,
Hans

Only the first one. I'll do the second.

Re: Cortana disable permanently
Hmm... it works for me, but that might be because Cortana isn't completely available in my country.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Cortana disable permanently
It's not the language - my Windows is set to US English. But Windows "knows" that I am in The Netherlands, so it offers a very limited version of Cortana.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Cortana disable permanently
I disabled Cortana back on day one of Windows 10.
I have not had it reactivated with ANY update including the major spring and fall updates!

Re: Cortana disable permanently
Hans, can you elaborate on this or point me to an article that will give me step by step instructions? I have limited resources on this laptop and would like to remove Cortana as it is something I don't use and don't expect ever to use.

Thank you, Mr. V.!!! That one DWORD did the trick. I didn't have to do a second one as mentioned above.
