Speakers volume not normal

Post by Pat »

This is part of the other Speakers volume post not being normal.
I have updated Skype to the latest and the internal speakers work fine.
Is there a switch per app I can set to have normal sound?
I haven't tried the external speakers as yet as I am testing the internal speakers first.

Hmmm... it looks weird on my PC: the only app mentioned is Firefox - four times.

It looks like the number of times FF appears in that list corresponds to the number of active FF processes that are shown in Task Manager. At the moment in my PC Task Manager shows two FF processes and I see FF listed twice in the app volume & device prefs dialog. When I closed FF the dialog updated / both FF entries disappeared.

Perhaps a feature that's not quite ready for real world use?

I think each browser tab appears separately so you can set the volume controls differently. It does the same for Edge and other browsers. Edge does a better job of showing which tab is which.

If an app doesn’t appear in the list, you’ll need to launch it first—and perhaps start playing or recording audio in it.
Try the above with Skype.

Simply starting Firefox to a blank page opens 4 entries in the "App volume and device preferences" list. Internet Explorer isn't listed at all even if it is running

Tried that link by Oliver and it has stayed at the same volume. It says that the individual app option was introduced by the April 2018 Windows Update, this was about the time when the problem started to happen.

Also tried the external speakers, no good there either.

Internet explorer does appear, but only if you navigate to a page that wants to play a sound.
