"Some of your accounts require attention"

Post by StuartR »

Every time I restart Windows, I see an action centre message saying "Microsoft account problem. We need to fix your Microsoft account (most likely your password changed). Select here to fix it in Shared experiences settings."

When I click on that message it takes me to another dialog box that looks like this:
Shared experiences.png
And if I click on Fix Now then it asks for the password for my Microsoft account.

I do have a Microsoft account, that I use for Office 365, but I do not use this to log on to Windows, and I don't want any shared experiences. How can I get this message to stop appearing? I am reluctant to sign in as it requests because I don't want my Microsoft account linked to my local login.

Thank you Leif, this one seems to have fixed it.
Method 2: Log in as an Administrator and removed accounts used by other apps.

Click the Start Button, then go to Settings.
Click Accounts and go to Email & app accounts.
If you see your Microsoft account listed under Accounts used by other apps. Click on it and select the “Remove” option.

I've got the same problem as Stuart had, ignored it a fair while now.

Tried above solution, to no avail.

As soon as I click Manage I get the above result. Clicking No on the dialog box returns to the screen, no Remove option.

Chrome isn't unresponsive at any time

I'll just continue to ignore the message as everything else works fine...

Good to hear that it seems to be fixed, Stuart.

And you're using a local account, login, Claude? (Silly question, but I imagine there will be no remove option unless one has changed to a local account under Accounts > Your info.)

I have seen some comment about problems when changing aliases.

I have to admit that I have trouble understanding the mess that Microsoft has created with different accounts, pushing people to use a "Microsoft account" to log on to their PC etc.

Thanks for the suggestions Argus.

I'll look at it again at some stage I guess, meanwhile, to answer your question:

So, by the looks of it, I let apps snoop around while at the same time blocking them...

Cheers, Claude.

P.S. I don't recall having made any changes to these settings.
