HI all
Firstly a rhetorical question, why oh why can't MS leave things alone when they work.
Now the real questions(s)
1. File Associations
Up until yesterday I could plug my iPhone in, open the DCIM folder and see icons of all of the pictures, which in this instance are in .JPG, however today I get the image in the screenshot. I have read all of the MS "Its not our fault" bull on the web but it doesn't help me to view the files (I need to take and identify these for work). I have download the newest version of Infranview (as this is not an automatic picture option for WIN 10) and on install have associated it to all picture files but I still get the same view. I have the latest graphic card, done all of the scans as suggested by MS but no joy.
2. Turn on file info
Up to WIN 7 when you opened a folder and clicked on an item you got a useful toolbar where you could see the date and size of the file, change its name or add a tag but in my (64 bit) Version of Win 10 it isn't there, any idea how to turn it on.

1. On the View tab of the ribbon in File Explorer, click the upper part of the Options button.
Activate the View tab of the Folder Options dialog.
Clear the check box "Always show icons, never thumbnails".
Click OK.

2. Not sure what you mean.
You can right-click a file and select Properties from the context menu.
Activate the Details tab of the Properties dialog.
Click in a property that you want to edit.
Click OK when done.

Re: Windows 10. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
HI Hans
Thanks for the quick response.
I had already done that but nothing changed but I now clicked on 'reset folders' and Restore Defaults' and it seems to have done it
Cheers
PS, any thoughts on the bottom toolbar?

The Status Bar in the Windows 10 File Explorer only displays information about the number of files in the folder and the number of files you have selected plus their total size:

... and brought on all the issues with Linux! There doesn't seem to be any sophisticated Linux equivalent to many of the system utilites which Windows provides, like (for example)PJ_in_FL wrote:I solved all my wife's Windows 10 issues with one little change ... to Linux
Windows Explorer
Device Manager
Disk Management
Office Fonts
... and that's just the start! Even a supposedly Windows-a-like distro like Zorin didn't give me a UK keyboard layout, even when selected, until I 'worked with' something called input methods.
And you can't even vary the desktop background to the precise shade of pale blue that I prefer.
Thought it did transparently and surprisingly correct the system date and time from 01 January 2000 00:00 to the correct time (CMOS battery on olde laptop has expired, and would require the complete dismantling of the laptop to replace - thanks, HP!).
