I accidentally set up Google 1 as the method to back up my Google Pixel phone. I don't need it for extra fee paying storage.

Any reason why I should not use Google 1 over the normal Android storage back up?

Because it is Google and they will suck any information they can possibly glean from every interaction with you to monetize you.

Note that I have not researched backup solutions for a phone. So, I don't have any recommendations.

But I guess just having a Google phone nailed me into their information channels . What is privacy these days ...
But it is a good phone and with excellent photo possibilities .... convenient for travelling.

If you don't mind paying for the Google service, I suspect they have made using it fairly easy.
