I have lost lengthy replies to SMS text messages on my Android phone too often for it to be amusing, so I am wondering whether anyone knows of a simple way of transferring them to a Windows 10 PC, where they could be viewed and replied to in the form of an email.
I have no trouble with transferring photos from Android phone to PC, simply by connecting the USB-C port on the phone with a USB-A port on the PC, selecting either file or photo transfer, then using Windows Explorer (other, better, programs are available!) to transfer them across.
However, there seems to be no obvious file on the phone's file system which contains the SMS text messages.
I've tried downloading Phonelink on the PC, but it doesn't seem to want to do this...

John,
I just copy sms (using the sms copy facility) and paste straight into an email eg gmail or copy into a Word.doc if it's some information worth keeping.

I use MightyText to synchronise SMS from one phone to this laptop, and Google Messages for Web to synchronise a different phone.
(There is a paid version of Mightytext, but the
version has all the functionality that I need).

Thanks to all!
Leif: I saw that Reddit thread originally, but found I had to use the PlayStore, which to date I have avoided.
Ron: I have never used "the SMS copy facility", and will have to look it up! I don't use emails (or Word) on my phone...
Stuart: your link could do with improvement! I will look at MightyText.
Apologies for late response, but, like all of us I expect, I was frustrated by all the error messages.
