Desktop items missing

Don’t know what I did, BUT I am missing some Desktop Items that I ‘created.’ Shortcuts are there.
Of course I can’t remember all of the missing Items. Is there any place to look for them so I can get them back?
I did a System Restore, no luck.

System Restore does not affect items on the desktop, as you have found. It only affects system-level items, such as Windows files, installed programs and drivers.

If the deleted items aren't in the Trash, it's unlikely that you will be able to retrieve them. Sorry!
