Install Printer

Hi anyone,

I'm trying to install a Brother Printer of the Model MFC-7860DW via USB cable to my desktop which has the operating system Windows 8.1 64-Bit. But unfortunately, I cannot click the "Next" button in the installation wizard after connecting the USB cable and switching on the printer. I tried this a couple of times but have failed.

Would be glad if anyone could help me with this.

Have you downloaded the latest printer drivers for your printer on 64-bit Windows 8.1? Drivers are available from MFC-7860DW Downloads.

See if the following helps: When I install MFL-Pro Suite from the CD-ROM or Full Driver & Software Package from the "Downloads" section, the installation will not continue past the instruction to connect the USB cable to the computer.

This does not help. The problem in my opinion is that the printer needs to update it's firmware from J to K inorder for it to support windows 8 installation.

But since I'm using Windows 8 so far it's impossible to do so.

Thanks for the concern Hans. Fortunately I've solved the problem now by installing the printer to a previous version of windows.
