I have purchased a new WD 2TB External and copied the old WD 1TB to it, both disks on USB 2.0 and USB 3.0
The old one was always mapped to D:, the copy worked fine but I cannot get the system to record the new drive as D: but instead uses H:
D: is not currently used.
I need the new disk to be in USB 3.0, as D:
Windows Explorer wont reassign d: but gives me h:

Right-click the Start button and select 'Disk Management' from the context menu.
Instead of clicking Start, you can also press Windows key+X if you prefer using the keyboard.
Right-click the new drive and select 'Change Drive Letter and Paths...' from the context menu.
Click Change...
Click 'Assign the following drive letter'.
Select the drive letter D: from the dropdown.
Click OK.
