Facebook Error: "Unable to post comment. Try again."

Anyone had this error in Facebook(?): "Unable to post comment. Try again" ? (Having noted other users reports in various forums, it seems to occur, for no apparent reason, sometimes lasting for several days at a time, irrespective of whether one uses Windows 7 or 8, Internet Explorer 8, 9 or 10, Firefox, or Chrome). There is even a Facebook Page named after this error(!)....But no solutions anywhere!!

In my case, the error/problem is ALWAYS present in IE10 under Windows 8 (64-bit). I am unable to save a post and clicking on "like" does not result in any action being taken. In my system, the problem is, however, not present in Firefox.

I have tried disabling add-ons in my browser, disabling my security program and using Compatibility View in IE10, but ...nothing! I have e-mailed FB support (received a "thanks for reporting an issue, and then...silence). Microsoft Answers referred me back to FB. Any suggestions?

This appears to be a frequent problem. Since it occurs in several operating systems and browsers, it seems to be a problem in Facebook, not in the browser. So Facebook will have to solve it. In the meantime, there's nothing you can do about it, I fear (apart from not posting comments on Facebook ).

I wonder if it's geographic? I haven't read or heard about it and I'm on Facebook every day for considerable time. Among my 200+ friends, I've not heard any mention of it. Just wondering. I guess I'll Google around later...

I should clarify that every "once in a blue moon" I get or encounter a momentary problem posting but it never lasts more than a minute or two. I've always assumed it's a traffic load glitch but it happens very seldom.

Do you recall the name of the Facebook page?

have win8 64 pro 64bit and unable to change settings, post or like in facebook, also have xp hone 32bit and can do all these.

so is it facebook doesn't like win8 or win8 doesn't like facebook.

I'm new on this forum and I don't know if this problem has been sorted elsewhere, if so can you please point me in the right direction, thanks

Welcome to Eileen's Lounge!

I found some reports that the Free Download Manager browser add-on breaks a lot of websites on Internet Explorer 10, including Facebook. So if you have this add-on, try disabling or uninstalling it.

You can also try clicking the Compatibility View button in the address bar (while you're on Facebook) to see if this solves the problem.

I don't yet have Windows 8, but ...

At the risk of sounding like a Microsoft hater, which I'm not, you might try installing the Firefox browser and see what it does in Facebook.

The problem appears to have been a Flash issue. Latest upgrade to flash in IE10 has enabled full access and functionality to FB.
