Re: Network Extender For Wireless G Router
The page you linked to mentions
So it works with Wireless B, Wireless G and Wireless N, but best performance is with Wireless N.Broad Compatibility
The Linksys RE1000 works seamlessly with all b/g/n Wi-Fi devices so you can connect all of the computers and devices around your home. For best performance, pair with any Wireless-N router.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Hans I did see that and is the reason I though I could use it but the Wireless - N technology concerned me. Glad you understood it better than I. Again, thanks.

The specification also says:
I once researched these devices, and at that time they would only work if the existing wireless router used WEP security. They did not support WPA. I don't know if this has changed, but I don't think anybody should be using WEP nowadays as it is so easy to crack.
Which makes it very clear that it should work with an existing 802.11b wireless routerMinimum System Requirements:
Wireless: Existing b/g/n wireless router or access point

Re: Network Extender For Wireless G Router
Thanks but I decided to bite the bullet and am switching my router to a new one that uses the N technology along with the network extender mentioned in this topic.
