Saving Onenote files

I am just starting to get into Onenote and, so far, am impressed. It seems to be similar to the old MS Binder that I liked.

However, there is no save icon so i am curious, does it automatically save when you exit? Selecting Save As offers options of saving sections or a package. Does anyone know how this works?

I am trying to create a Onenote file of all the MS Office Tricks and Tips with different sections for each Office app and, within each section, a page for each tip. Right now, I have a lot of Outlook notes with tips. Just hate to do all the entry then lose it due to some SAVE error (on my part).

OneNote saves your work automatically, so there is no need for a Save option.
The Save As option is intended to save a copy of your work, or to save in another format such as PDF.

I have been using OneNote since it first came out, and the data has always been saved.
As Hans stated, only need to do a save if one wants a second copy of the file.

It seems that sections are saved individually as files within a folder (which is the name of the notebook) then consolidated when that notebook is opened. It also seems that the SAVE AS allows one to save individual sections or as a package but NOT as individual pages of a section.

Is this correct?

Yes. File = section. Folder = notebook.
