With the help of you guy's ( Thank You )

Post by D Willett »

M & M Vehicle Repairs have reached the final three of The Staffordshire Sentinels British Business Awards Associations Business Innovation Award for its Bodyshop Management Information Console.

The Management Information Console is a bespoke Software Application that stores both Methods and Images on a per job basis, electronically, and provides all of the management reports and audit trail required to maximise work flow efficiencies in a modern Accident Repair Centre.

The Management Information Console was created by Dave Willett M & Ms Bodyshop Director specifically to overcome the time wasted by V.D.A.s and Shop Floor Operatives on Collating, Managing, Storing and Reporting on Repair Methods and Images collectively or on a job by job basis.

The winner of The Business Innovation Award will be announced at The Awards Presentation Dinner to be held at The Stoke on Trent Moat House on Tuesday 23 March 2010.

( Just to explain )

I started a project in 2003 to give users access to images and documents which originally localled on one or two pc's from industry standard software.
Needing a way to give users the maximuminformation efficiently, I tried my hand at Visual Basic. With loads of help from many people on Woody's site, I reached my goal.
Not writing for any kind of profit, I have not taken any payment whatsoever but a great deal of enjoyment in taxing my brain cells.
Our industry insists on working to BSi standards where a method of repair must be given to the operative at the work bay.
For example, to replace two doors on medium sized vehicle, a method of repair could be 60 or 70 pages which should be printed!
My application enables our company to not print a single page... so I saved some tree's also !!

So I just wanted to say thank you...
Cheers ...

Dave.

Well, I did help, but you learned quickly, and you have done all of the hard work. I was impressed with the version I saw in 2004, I'm sure it's even better now!
Best wishes,
Hans

Thank YOU. It is very rare that we get any insight into the real business value of the support the lounge offers people. Thank you very much for sharing your story.

Good luck in the final selection.

Thank you for the thank you.
I have always had the feeling that advice given in the lounge must have saved and enhanced many projects. It certainly has for mine, even tho I have never advanced beyond New Lounger. Your post serves as proof.
:thankyou:

Many of the work projects that I have delivered these last 2 years or so, with massive amounts of help and support from people here in the lounge have helped to save hours upon hours of manual user input every single day, not just for me, but my whole department. Thankyou never seems enough! The support here is invaluable, from people who dedicate so much of their free time to helping others. :Thankyou: :Thankyou: :Thankyou: :Thankyou: :Thankyou: You guys and gals are fantastic!

No.
I've got a suit, but I didn't realize you had to have hair to be a member in good standing ....

Congratulations Dave.
I echo Hans's sentiments; we all get great help from the lounge, but to be successful there's real work needed by the individual.
