Jerry
I’ll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there’s evidence of any thinking going on inside it

So, based on what we know about Australia, from December it'll only be 9 years, 364 days and 21 hours behind us...

The article says the change is intended to boost the economy (by making trade with Australia/New Zealand easier), but have they taken into account that economic output over 2011 will shrink by 0.27% (=1/365)?
Best wishes,
Hans

Is this the same Samoa that recently (2009, I recall) switched from right-hand to left-hand driving?

What are they doing here? Trying to tweak their Google scores?

Forgive me if it was the other Samoa.

I seem to recall that England did something like this a long time ago. Dropped 11 days from their calendar...so this is just a minor detail in comparison

There are stories of how people were unhappy about the fact that they lost 11 days, because they were supposed to be so stupid that they didn't realise it was only a calendar change. In fact I believe they were angry because their rent and other payments suddenly became due 11 days earlier and therefore they had difficulty paying (and effectively paid one month's rent for only 20 days).

I also heard that some thought the government was stealing part of their lives, or making them die sooner...Something along those lines. Kinda funny, kinda scary

I think that a lot of Americans would react that way today
