Mother's Day Gift - Opinion Requested

Post by PJ_in_FL »

Does 12 hours spent this week detailing DW's car equal 12 roses on Mother's Day, or will this get me a "date" with the couch?

Opinions - both genders - very welcome!

P.S. - Don't really mind the couch, it's like camping out (Men's Rules).

P.P.S. - Happy to provide a copy of Men's Rules by request. Females only, of course. Men already know them!

OK, in my house, I would get to do the couch camping thing for even suggesting roses... That should tell you how different the Women's Rules are! She wouldn't want the van cleaned out and vacuumed for Mom's day either, but jewelry would be nice.

My advice, after 20 years of <<sweet>> marriage... If you don't know what she wants, just ask! It might be embarrassing, but it will be far less embarrassing than getting your behind whooped by an angry Momma.

The approach we take in my household is to ignore ALL of these events. No presents for Christmas, mothers day, grandmothers day, fathers day or any of the rest of the specified retail opportunities. We just buy each other gifts if we see something that we think would be enjoyed.

My family is happy if we just contact each other on these dates. If I stop by on any day this weekend my mum will be thrilled. But I can tell you this, if it was a gift day she would kick my arse for cleaning a car. Much better to buy or make an actual item.
Who will you Inspire today?

:groan: Thought the answers would be along those lines. Well, the car had to be cleaned and waxed anyway - spring love bug season in Florida (If you have to ask, you've never been to Florida in spring or fall when they're everywhere) - so I guess I quit the prognostication and just ask!

We'll both be too tired on Mum's Day anyway - running the Expedition Everest Challenge 5K + obstacle course the night before at WDW's Animal Kingdom, starting time - 8:30PM! Party 'til 1AM! :groovin:

Hmmmmm, maybe I can scavenge some of the flowering weeds from the back yard ...... :innocent:

Sounds to me that flowers on the day and a day at the spa on Monday would be a winner.

Since it is Mother's day why are YOU doing this, the kids are to treat their mom on this day. And YOU are to treat YOUR mother.

That said, if you did NOT train your kids, then it is your fault and you had better do something above and beyond what has been talked about.

Who is DW, and why does his/her car have a difficult-to-remove tail?

And anyway, Mother's Day was on 3rd April!

DW = Dear Wife

Oh - De-Tailing! - Got it (finally - little slow on the uptake)

Lovebugs are a scourge common to Florida and other Gulf Coast states that will coat a vehicle driven a few miles through the thick swarms that occur during their two annual mating seasons. They get the name because many will be seen "flying united", so to speak. The smashed guts of which are acidic and play "bloody h***" with painted surfaces.

My kids better be doing something for their mother (they were trained to), but being adults (in some ways), it's up to them.

As to what I'm doing - I'm going to honor my grandchildren's grandmother - by running her 5K, tossing her over barriers, making her crawl under ropes, walk on suspended beams, etc. Does the "tossing her over barriers" qualify for "above and beyond"????

Hans,

Thanks for explaining it to the poor lad. I'm sure he's just a little addled with all this talk of Motherhood. I hear it does that to some men who're not current on their shots.
