Billie and I visited the Cape once when we were in Florida with our very young son for a swimming vacation. It wasn't before or during a launch but just by chance they were bringing a "rocket" of some kind out to the launch pad, maybe it was testing something, I don't remember.

Anyway, I was impressed with that big track vehicle that they move it with. And it really went SLOWLY, just barely moving. Visiting the Cape was, back then, very educational and interesting, but I hate to imagine how many of OUR tax dollars pour into the running of that place.

It was first done for the Peter Sellers movie, Dr. Strangelove, in 1964.
There, aircraft commander, Major T.J. King Kong ( Slim Pickens ) is shown accidentally riding the A Bomb down to earth. Camera mounted on the nose of the bomb. Truly ground breaking cinematography!
