Wild Carp

Post by Graeme »

Went fishing yesterday with my son.

We caught a few of these. It was a good day.

The farmer said the yellow colouring was because they are Wild Carp. I said, "Wild, the ones we caught were absolutely livid!"

Does that mean it didn't rain where you were, like it did in my part of the UK? Or is it just that, being a fisherman, rain doesn't have any impact on the quality of the day?

It was the one day this week with no rain!

Fishing still works in the rain but the PVA bags are tricky! Astronomy is a non starter as you can imagine! Good job there's some snooker on. (Trump and Murphy in the Champion of Champions quarter finals on ITV4 tonight at 7:00)

Lucky you!

We're hoping to see the sun tomorrow morning, and if we do, we'll head out for a walk.

My dad watched some guys fishing for carp. One of them dropped their wallet and a big old carp picked it up, dropped it near another carp, who in turn swam with it and dropped it near another carp. This went on for a while, until my dad turned to one of the fishermen and said "that's the first time I've ever seen carp to carp walleting."

:bananas:
"Hmm. What does this button do?" Said everyone before being ejected from a car, blown up, or deleting all the data from the mainframe.

I think I spend too much time on cryptic crosswords (the simple kind however).

When I see "wild carp", I think it must be an anagram of carp. And then I think, "oh carp!".

Could be used. Could Be.
Suppose you were thinking of responding to a post about a fish and had decided to copy and paste a slice
IMG-20231115-WA0004.jpg
of the original post with a view to building a larger post, then you might say that the slice was clipward.
Of course, if wrapped in paper it would be clipward-bound.

But then, I already have enough jars if fish paste.

Cheers, Chris

Graeme, Thanks indeed.
I had not seen this particular sketch before, but it rattled my brain a bit.

I have seen NTNON clips on YouTube, so I had a rough idea of the cast - some by name, some by facial features, but I was amazed at the 0m30s mark when I saw the "examination of fingers" and said "That's Rowan Atkinson".
How many times, say in Blackadder alone, has he examined his fingernails as a bit of "business" in dialogue.

But how deep can that particular way of implementing that common gesture have been for one to seize on it?

Is it true that no-one but Rowan Atkinson plays with his fingernails that way? The 0m59s mark corroborated the identity when the Gorilla first spoke; our brains seem to be wired to decode speech to reveal an identity. Necessary in the caveman days, I suppose.

Anyway, thanks for the clip, thirty seconds of which has been enough to start the creaky old cog wheels spinning this day!
Cheers, Chris
